If the Ashworth Pharmacy had changed with
the times its soda fountain would have probably ended up as just an old photo on the pharmacy's wall. But, luckily for
us all, the Ashworth soda fountain/lunch counter is still there and operating just as it has since 1957. The fountain specializes
in preparing homemade chicken, tuna and egg salad sandwiches, fresh-squeezed orangeades and limeades, cherry smashes, cherry,
vanilla and chocolate sodas, real vanilla Cokes, milkshakes, floats and the best hotdogs in town. I had two of the dogs topped
with mustard, onions, chili and slaw. The buns and the Jesse Jones brand nuclear red dogs are both steamed. My two dogs were
excellent and my cherry smash was simply outstanding as was my real vanilla Coke traveler to go. I had to cut off cold turkey
my cherry smash addiction 25 years ago when my local soda fountain, Lipes, closed. So, now I can get my cherry smashes again
and I can enjoy real vanilla Cokes and I couldn't be happier!
