Any "best burger" list will contain some personal favorites, some local favorites
and some well known ones, but no list would be complete without Johnson's in Siler City. The inside counter, with its
12 green leatherette swivel-backed stools, runs almost the entire length of the place. They also have a few booths @ the window.
If you can find a seat @ the counter you can watch the burgers being freshly hand-formed and cooked to order. Johnson's
uses only western grain fed USDA choice beef. The beef is cut and ground fresh daily. I ordered 2 chili cheeseburgers. My
burgers came on a sheet of wax paper. Although my chili cheeseburgers were very, very messy, they were both truly outstanding.
My chili cheeseburgers were ordered all the way; Velveta, slaw, mustard, onions and chili. Claxton Johnson is the owner and
he is also your burger cook. Johnson's is the only restaurant in the country that has won the U.S. Food Service 50 year
award. Johnson's has been in Siler City since 1946.
