Off the historic and tourist-beaten path literally sitting on Wood's Creek (the creek runs right under the restaurant) is Beameup BBQ (since June 2010). Beam uses Boston Butts that are dry-rubbed before cooking. The pork is smoked/cooked for 16 hours in an Ole Hickory (electric/gas fired) smoker with all pear wood. In the summer they switch from pear to all apple wood and in the fall they use all hickory. Everything @ Beam is home-made and they use brown eggs to make their very good deviled eggs. Deviled eggs are not a common find @ any Q house, so when I find a place that does have them it's a nice bonus because I love them. The star here is the pulled Q. My pulled pork sandwich topped with slaw was very good and it's even better with their red/sweet and tangy #2 Q sauce. They also have Carolina vinegar #1 and a dark and spicy #3. Their banana pound cake is also very good. Enjoy!
