What is there to do in Florence? Well: for starters you should check out the new visitor center, birdwatch for Bald Eagles along Pickwick Lake & the town of Waterloo (ask the mayor for the best viewing spots), visit Helen Keller's birthplace, drop a line in the world class fishing waters of Pickwick Lake for small-mouth-bass, visit W.C. Handy's birthplace and wether it is open or not you should see Frank Lloyd Wright's "Usonian" Rosenbaum House, its worth a look either way. Now that you are good and hungry head over to Bunyan's BBQ. Order and pay at the counter. My two regular pulled-pork sandwiches came wrapped in wax paper with a toothpick stabbed in the middle. My first sandwich, already sauced and topped with Bunyan's famous hot slaw was great! With my second one I added an extra container of their amazing sauce making a wonderful mess. With the two messes I also had a side of excellent warmed up baked beans. Bunyan's opened in 1972. Enjoy!
