Lard, it does a body good (in this case anyway). B & G’s pie dough is hand-rolled and made with lard (old school Southern cooking) and this gives the pies their amazing flakey crust. Each pie is hand-made from scratch in their Winston-Salem, NC facility. Apple pies are made with McIntosh Apples. Peach pies are made with Georgia peaches. Cherry pies are made with whole pitted Bing cherries. The apple pies are their best sellers and my favorite. You can find these delicious pies all over the North Carolina Triad ( Greensboro, Winston-Salem and High Point) at gas stations, convenience stores and local regional retailers.
