Start Campbell Ave. take to Wise Ave., over Tinker Creek & under Norfolk & Western rail bridge. Now in Vinton, just around the bend with a flour mill to the left and Bob's (gravel lot) to the right. Bob's has a front entrance (last steel door to your right nearest the sign) and a back entrance that the locals seem to favor. They may sometimes look like they are closed and a preferred back parking area can cloak the fact that they are open. With its dark interior, bar and pool table (coin-op) Bob's may not seem that welcoming to a first timer. But, not to worry, the staff is very friendly and the "real" burgers and cold domestic brews will quickly turn you into a regular. I got the "Roxy" cheeseburger (top-notch) with lettuce, tomato, pickles and a sweet onion slice. They make their own chips from scratch and also have Kenny Burgers. No Coke, so I got a Dr. Pepper. Enjoy!
Note: Roanoke is "The Dr. Pepper Capitol of the World". Roanoker's consume more Dr. Pepper than any other spot on the globe. Dr. Pepper is named for and formulated by Dr. Charles T Pepper of Rural Retreat, Virginia.
Nothing is a more basic name than Bob's. I love it. But if those people in the photo are an example of the clientele, I'm not sure I'd want to have a brew there. (Joke) It sounds like a wonderful place. Didn't know that about Dr. Pepper! My favorite soft drink. Interesting.
