Just off I-16 exit 104 in Metter, near the Chevron station, you will find Jomax BBQ. Jomax is a family owned and operated Q house. Jomax cooks Boston Butts with gas and pecan wood, which gives the meat a sweeter smoke flavor. Jomax also wet mops their vinegar and tomato based sauce on the Q while it's cooking and after. Everything @ Jomax is cooked and made fresh there on the premises. I had the pork plate with baked beans, coleslaw and a side of Brunswick stew. Your pork plate also comes with a basket of three slices of white bread. My chopped Q was very good. The slaw, with a mayo based dressing, consisted of white and green cabbage with a few carrot specks. It too was very good. The beans and the Brunswick stew, however, were both superb, as was the banana pudding.

Note: Sonny Seiler, the owner of UGA's famous white bulldog mascot, will sometimes stop @ Jomax on his way to a UGA football game from his home in Savannah.

O lordy, Jomax Bar-B-Que sounds wonderful. Sounds like they'd be a one-meal-that-day kind of place, because the portions are so big. Great job. Roll on, CO
