At the stoplight on main street (also 29 business) across from the CVS® Pharmacy you will see a small white brick and cinderblock building. This is Chef's Drive-In. You can honk your horn for curb service or you can eat inside. They have four booths and six swivel stools @ the counter inside. They have eight swivel stools, but two of them are broken for the time being. Chef's offers a little bit of everything; BLT's, Carolina BBQ, bacon cheeseburgers, brown hounds, fried bologna, fries (curly and waffle), grilled cheese, homemade vegetable soup, homemade chicken salad, chuck wagon, pie and cake by the slice and of course hot dogs. The dogs here are excellent! I had one with mustard, onions and chili and one with m,o,c and slaw. The onion rings here are also very good. The dogs are grilled nuclear red ones and the buns are steamed. Chef's Drive-In has been an Altavista landmark since 1961. They do take VISA®.
